Idle electoral officers on Saturday waited endlessly for voters in most of the polling units visited by our correspondent in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
Chairmanship and councillorship elections were held in the six area councils in the FCT.
There were no governorship or House of Assembly elections in Abuja.
Our correspondent who went round some polling units in Karu, Nyaya, Jikwoyi and Kurudu all in Abuja Municipal Area Council reported poor turn out of voters in the polling units.
In some of the polling units, no voter had shown up as of 8.30am, 30 minutes after election opened.
In all the polling units visited, electoral officers arrived on time.
Only the electoral officers, party agents and security agents were seen in most of the units.
At CBN Junction in Karu, ad hoc staff used the opportunity to besiege a food vendor located around there.
The first voter at the unit was attended to at about 8.45am.
The situation was clearly a contrast with what was obtainable during the February 23 presidential and National Assembly elections when the electoral officers were overwhelmed by the large turn out of voters.
