Angry supporters of the reelected Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, and the All Progressives Congress on Sunday night destroyed the portrait of the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, at the Kano State Government House in Kano.
This came shortly after the Independent National Electoral Commission declared Ganduje the winner of the governorship election in the state on Sunday.
Ganduje defeated the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Kabir Abba-Yusuf, to win the election.
The supporters of the Governor accused Sanusi of supporting the opposition PDP in the supplementary election.
The supporters of Ganduje used ladders to climb the Coronation Hall in the Government House to remove the portrait/picture of the monarch to show their displeasure.
