Forex Trading: Man dupes LASU students of N785,000.

A 35-year-old man, Cletus Iyohah, has been arraigned before a Badagry Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State for allegedly obtaining N785, 000 under false pretence from five students of Lagos State University (LASU).

Mr Iyohah pleaded not guilty to two-count charges of obtaining money under false pretence and stealing on his arraignment on Monday.

Police prosecutor, Ayedele Adeosun, told the court that the suspect committed the offences between 2018 and 2019 at LASU in Ojo area of Lagos.

The students involved are Daniel Emmanuel, Felix Okunbor, Abraham Odamah, Glory Emmanuel, and Emmanuel Izuagie.

Adeosun added that the accused collected the money from them on the pretence of helping them to register for foreign exchange trading.

“The accused stole the sum of N785, 000 which belonged to these five students of the institution as the accused failed to fulfill his part of the agreements he reached with the complainants,” the prosecutor said.

The offences, Adeosun said, contravened Sections 314 and 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 as amended.

Magistrate Lazarus Hotepo granted Iyohah bail in the sum of N200, 000 with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until April 24 for mention.
