Akeredolu Cuts Short Trip, Visits Pa Fasoranti, Says Death of Olakunrin Was Personal Loss.

Ondo State governor, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu, SAN, has commiserated with the Leader of the Pan – Yoruba Socio-political organisation, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, over the loss of his daughter, Mrs Funke Olakunrin, who was killed on Friday.

Governor Akeredolu also condole with the husband of the deceased, Mr. Idowu Olakunrin.

Arakunrin Akeredolu, who cut short his trip to Lagos State, to console the foremost Yoruba leader and his family over the painful loss, was accompanied by his Chief of Staff, Cheif Gbenga Ale, Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Engr. Ade Adetimehin and other members of the state Executive Council.

The Governor described the murder of Mrs Funke Olakunrin as an ugly incident, stressing that it is undoubtedly a death too many.

Arakunrin Akeredolu, who expressed his worry over the incident, said that some measures must be taken to prevent its re-occurrence.

He said the death of Funke Olakunrin was a personal loss, adding that it is like mourning a relative whose life has just been cut short.

Governor Akeredolu promised that government will brief the media adequately about the steps and measures to be taken very soon.

Also paying a condolence visit to the family of Afenifere leader, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, was Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, over Friday’s killing of his daughter, Mrs Funke Olakunrin, along Ore road, in Ondo State.

Governor Fayemi in a statement in Ado- Ekiti, described the gruesome killing of the 58 years old Mrs Olakunrin as very sad and devastating.

He urged the security agencies in the country to apprehend the killers and also come up with a comprehensive approach towards ending the menace of killings and kidnapping in several parts of the country.

“This is one killing to many and this should be a wake up call on our security agencies to come up with a comprehensive action plan to put a permanent end to this menace of senseless killings and kidnapping in several parts of the country.

“I extend my condolences and that of the good people of Ekiti to our revered leader, Pa Fasoranti and the entire family.  Our prayers are with you in this hour of bereavement.

“We pray that God will console you and  heal the wound.

“We hope that the security agencies will go all out and ensure that the perpetrators of the gruesome killing  are apprehended.

“They should also come up with comprehensive proactive plans to curb the spate of killings and kidnapping and ensure a more secured environment”
