It’s important to stock up on some things while waiting out Covid-19. But hoarding unnecessary items can deplete the supply for everyone else.
Tweets and videos of people panic-buying toilet paper are proliferating on social media. Yes, being prepared for a possible quarantine is smart.
An excess of toilet paper will not help protect you against Covid-19, but it will cause a run on supplies that keeps others from getting what they might need.
The discrepancy between what people are doing and what authorities are saying has made many on social media to essentially ask the toilet paper stock-pilers, “what are you doing.” Or “what have you done” or dung, such as this tweet:
If you are one of the people who has panic-bought a 6-month supply of toilet paper I think you should go home and look at your enormous pile of toilet paper and think about what you’ve done.
