Suspected gunmen invade late MKO Abiola’s house in Ikeja

Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, also known as M. K. O. Abiola GCFR (24 August 1937 – 7 July 1998) was a Nigerian businessman, publisher, politician and aristocrat of the Egba clan. He was the Aare Ona Kankafo XIV of Yorubaland.

Suspected robbers on Wednesday morning invaded the Ikeja residence of late MKO Abiola and carted away valuables including hard currencies.

The robbers entered and escaped through the fence of the building.

It was gathered that security personnel’s have arrested seven (7) and handed them over to SARS.

In 2018, President Buhari declared June 12 to be the new Democracy Day to honour the winner of June 12, 1993 presidential election, Chief M.K.O. Abiola.

June 12, 1993 marked a turning point in Nigeria’s tortuous journey towards a democratic polity.
